Mathematical flexibility: Theoretical, methodological, and educational considerations

The current paper presents an introduction to a special issue focusing on mathematical flexibility, which is important aspect of thinking and cherished, but capricious, outcome mathematics education. Mathematical flexibility involves the flexible, creative, meaningful, innovative use concepts, relations, representations, strategies. In this we discuss most relevant theoretical, methodological, educational considerations related form background empirical studies presented in issue. Collectively, these provide broader understanding its subcomponents, influences, malleability.
